The 38th World Congress of Audiology is the 2028 edition of the congress series of the International Society of Audiology (ISA). It takes place on 23–26 April 2028 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland, hosted by the British Academy of Audiology (BAA).
The official site gives the congress theme as “Where global audiology will shape the future of hearing health”, and expects 1,500+ delegates, 80+ countries and 100+ expert sessions.

The programme spans early detection through to lifelong hearing health. Among the approaches highlighted on the official site are effective low-cost health innovations from the global south, service users as active partners in education, research and practice, a lifespan approach from newborn screening to healthy ageing, and prevention through rehabilitation.
The previous meeting in the series was the 37th World Congress of Audiology (WCA 2026 Seoul). For the host society's annual meeting, see the BAA 2026 page.
According to the listing in ENT & Audiology News, the congress marks the first return of the World Congress of Audiology to the United Kingdom since London in 1968. This detail does not appear on the official congress website.
Abstract submission and registration both open on 23 April 2027. Early bird registration closes on 23 December 2027, so you may need to plan travel and accommodation before your abstract is accepted; a hotel map is shared on the official site.
* The key dates table on the official site lists speaker announcements and the programme launch as February 2027, which falls before the abstract deadline (November 2027) and may be a typo on the site. The table is reproduced here as printed; please check the official site for the latest information.
The official site states that the scientific programme is built around six main themes:
The congress addresses clinicians, researchers, educators, industry representatives, students, policy leaders and third sector organisations. Virtual classroom sessions across three time zones are planned for students unable to attend in person.
The abstract system opens on 23 April 2027 and closes on 23 November 2027. Submission rules, presentation types and fees will be published on the official site once the system opens.
The congress is still in preparation; abstract rules, registration fees and the detailed programme will be announced during 2027. You can follow announcements by joining the mailing list on the official site.
A hotel map for accommodation around the conference centre is shared on the official site. Edinburgh is a busy festival city, so booking early is advisable.
The congress is held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) in the heart of the city.
