About APSCI 2027

The 16th Asia Pacific Symposium on Cochlear Implants and Related Sciences (APSCI 2027) takes place on 1–4 December 2027 at the Shanghai International Convention Center (SHICC) in Shanghai, China. The symposium president is Prof. Hao Wu.

According to the official site, APSCI was first held in Kyoto in 1996 and has since rotated among member countries every two years. It aims to foster knowledge exchange on clinical developments and scientific discoveries, promote innovation in hearing science and strengthen regional connections in hearing care.

The welcome message describes a meeting of experts, clinicians, audiologists, researchers, engineers and hearing-care professionals exploring innovations in hearing restoration.

Early registration is USD 0 for residents and graduate students; a certificate of enrolment or employment is required.

Abstract Submission

Abstracts are submitted online through the official site until 30 June 2027; acceptance is notified on 31 August 2027.

  • Abstracts must be in English.
  • Title up to 30 words, body up to 300 words; no tables, figures, graphs or references.
  • Include purpose, methods, results and conclusion, plus 3–5 keywords.
  • Abstracts must be original and unpublished at the time of submission.
  • Choose from 24 abstract categories.

🏆 APSCI Prize

The prize recognises basic and clinical research in otology. Applicants must be under 40 as of 1 December 2027, submit an oral-presentation abstract, tick the “Young Award session” box and complete registration. Finalists present in a competition session.

The symposium is held at the Shanghai International Convention Center (SHICC) on the Huangpu River, overlooking the Bund.

According to the official site, the centre has more than 30 meeting rooms, a column-free grand ballroom and an affiliated 5-star hotel with over 270 river-view rooms.

Travel

  • Pudong International Airport (PVG) — about 40 km, 40 minutes.
  • Hongqiao Airport (SHA) — about 24 km, 30 minutes.

Visa

Invitation letters are issued after full registration and payment and do not guarantee a visa. The official site recommends applying 6–8 weeks before travel. Depending on nationality, unilateral visa exemption, the 240-hour transit exemption or bilateral exemptions may apply; check the Chinese Visa Application Service Center for current rules.
