This questionnaire was developed to screen for and assess the symptoms of misophonia (decreased tolerance to specific sounds and the intense negative emotional, physiological and behavioral reactions those sounds trigger). It comprises 18 items and uses a 5-point Likert-type scoring. The scale includes two subdimensions: symptom frequency and impairment. Total scores range from 0–68 (item 3 does not contribute to the total score); a higher score indicates greater misophonia severity.
The frequency and severity of misophonia symptoms and their functional impact on daily life; decreased tolerance to specific trigger sounds and the negative emotional/behavioral reactions to them.
Adults aged 18–65 with clinically normal hearing
