This scale was developed to assess individuals' preferences for ambient sounds and their listening habits; it particularly aims to provide the specialist with additional person-specific information during the hearing aid fine-tuning (fitting) process. It comprises 23 items in total and uses a 5-point Likert-type scoring. The original scale covers dimensions such as annoyance/distraction from background noise, the importance of sound quality, noise sensitivity, avoidance of unexpected sounds, openness to loud/new sounds, preference for warm sound, and sensitivity to ambient-sound/music detail.
An individual's preferences for ambient sounds and listening habits; individual characteristics that affect hearing aid fitting, such as annoyance from noise, noise sensitivity, sound-quality expectations, and sensitivity to sound/music detail.
Adults aged 18–68; normal-hearing individuals, individuals with hearing impairment who do not use hearing aids, and hearing aid users.
